World Vision 20 Hour Famine

Room 1 decided to raise money for the World Vision 20 Hour Famine. We all gave a donation of $3.00 or more. Mrs Hawker donated the rice and we ate it for morning tea and lunch. We had to measure out the rice and then add the water. It made us realise what it would be like to only eat rice. We were lucky we were allowed to wash our plates in warm soapy water between meals, some children would not be able to do that. We raised over $90.00 for World Vision. More Baking - Pikelets

What better way to learn about volume and mass for Maths than baking. This time it was pikelets. We divided the class into 4 groups. Two groups baked this week and the other two groups will bake next week. Everyone in the class will eat pikelets each time. What a yummy way to spend a wet Wednesday afternoon!

Farewell to Nicholas

At the end of Term 1 we farewelled Nicholas who has shifted to Wanaka. Nicholas started mat Macandrew Bay School when he was five years old, so he has many friends here. He always put in a super effort in anything he did. We will miss him in our class. We hope Nicholas enjoys his new school and know that whenever we bump into him he will flash that wide "Nicholas" smile. Good luck Nicholas.
