Otago Settlers Museum

On Wednsday 12 of August Room 1 and Room 2 went to the Otago Settlers Museum to learn about early school days. Room1 got to dress up as olden day boys and girls for fun.
Sara told us a story about people travelling from Scotland to New Zealand. They got very sea sick and we enjoyed acting that part!! Then we had a pretend classroom where people got to act. We found out that in the 1800's if you giggled or got something wrong you were strapped. You were not allowed to write with your left hand. The children were told to do therir Maths but not how to do it! We enjoyed our trip.

Art Gallery Visit

Room 1 went to the Art Gallery. We did paintings of memories we had of Macandrew Bay School.
This was part of our topic Footprints From The Past where we are learning about Macandrew bay Schools history as we are celebrating our 150 anniversary.
We also had a look at some old videos from the past and had a play with some of the olden day toys.
It was lots of fun.
